FAQ

What is Pilates?

Pilates is a low-impact exercise method focused on building core strength, improving posture, enhancing flexibility, and supporting overall body alignment through mindful movement.

What is Reformer Pilates?

Reformer Pilates is a dynamic, full-body workout performed on a specialized machine called the Reformer, which uses springs, pulleys, and a sliding carriage to add resistance and support. It’s designed to build strength, improve flexibility, enhance alignment, and deepen core engagement—all through controlled, intentional movement.

I'm new to Pilates. Where should I start?

We welcome all levels to our studio and are excited to have you get started with us.  If you are interested in the reformer machine, we recommend starting with a few one-on-one sessions to get familiarized with the machine and confident in moving on it.  If you are interested in Mat pilates, our 'Pilates Mat' classes are appropriate for all-levels.  Get started with one of our welcome offers of three sessions for the price of two!

I am recovering from an injury. Which class is best for me?

If you’re recovering from an injury, we ask that you have approval from your doctor before returning to movement. Depending on the injury, we usually recommend starting with private sessions before joining group classes. Private sessions let us customize your workout and help you move safely and confidently.

If you’re comfortable modifying exercises and have prior experience with Pilates mat and/or Reformer classes, our all-levels classes may also be a good fit. We believe movement is an important part of recovery and longevity, and we’re here to support you every step of the way. If you’re unsure where to start, reach out — we’ll help you find the right option for your needs.

Jade, Ollie and Furry Friends

Yes! Our studio dogs, Jade and Ollie, are often around during privates and group classes. They’re super friendly and love belly rubs and head scratches. Their schedules are unpredictable, so we can’t guarantee when they’ll make a celebrity guest appearance. Occasionally, other instructors may bring their own furry friends as well.

While we adore animals, only instructors are permitted to bring pets to the studio. Please don’t bring your own dog or pet to class — though we’d love to see photos or meet them outside of sessions!

If you have a service animal, let us know in advance and we’ll be happy to accommodate. And if you have any concerns or sensitivities around dogs, please reach out before your visit so we can make sure you’re comfortable.

When does the studio open before class?

Our team opens the studio 5–10 minutes before your scheduled session to allow time for cleaning and class transitions. If you’ve arrived for your class and the door hasn’t opened yet, please knock gently or email info@elevatebklyn.com. We’ll assist you right away.

Refunds

All purchases — including class packages, memberships, and private sessions — are final sale. We’re unable to offer refunds or exchanges once a transaction has been confirmed and processed.

If you ever have questions about your account or experience an issue with your booking, please reach out to us at bookings@elevatebklyn.com. We’re always happy to help however we can.

What do I need for class?

Just bring yourself and wear comfortable clothes that you can move in. Socks are required for Reformer classes. We recommend grip socks for added safety and stability. We provide all equipment, mats, and props, so there’s no need to bring anything unless you prefer your own. Arrive a few minutes early to settle in and get the most out of your session.

Cancellation Policy

  • Group Classes: Must be canceled at least 12 hours in advance. Late cancellations or no-shows will incur a $25 fee.

  • Private Sessions: Must be canceled at least 24 hours in advance. Late cancellations will result in the loss of the session or a full charge to the card on file.

Late Arrival Policy

To maintain a safe and focused environment, clients will not be admitted more than 5 minutes after class has started. This ensures proper warm-up and minimizes disruption for others. If you arrive late and miss the cutoff, the class will be considered a no-show and subject to our cancellation policy. We appreciate your understanding and recommend arriving early to settle in and get the most out of your session.

Waitlist

If a class is full, you can join the waitlist through our booking platform. If a spot opens up, you’ll be automatically added and notified via email or text. Please check your notifications and confirm your spot promptly. If you’re added from the waitlist and don’t attend, it will be treated as a no-show and subject to our cancellation policy. We recommend keeping an eye on your schedule and opting out if your plans change.

Instructor & Schedule Changes

We do our best to maintain consistency, but sometimes life happens. Instructor substitutions or schedule adjustments may occur due to illness, emergencies, or studio needs. All updates will be reflected in the booking platform—so be sure to check your schedule before class. We appreciate your flexibility and understanding!

When am I ready for more advanced classes such as HIIT, Strength and/or Advanced Reformer?

These classes move at a faster pace and require a solid foundation in Pilates. If you’ve taken at least 10 Reformer classes, feel confident with spring changes, transitions, and core engagement, and are comfortable being challenged, you’re likely ready to level up. Not sure? Ask your instructor—they’re happy to guide you toward the right fit.

A spot on the waitlist opened up, but I'm already signed up for a different class. What should I do?

If you are scheduled for a class and waitlisted for another class, and a spot opens up outside of our 12-hour cancellation window, then you can switch with no penalty.  If a spot opens up within the 12-hour cancellation window and you choose to switch, then it will be considered a 'late cancel and you will be charged for both classes.

How do I book a private session?
